Day to Day Living, otherwise affectionately known as D2DL, had a National Forum last week on 13th and 14th March, 2013. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to speak about the Deck of Dreams. Thankfully, I’ve heard good things about my speech and left the podium feeling good. The whole thing was recorded so I will be able to publish it here once I get my hands on a copy. Mind you, I haven’t always been a fan of public speaking. I remember one of my early school reports stated I was a “reluctant speaker”. I didn’t know what that meant so I had to look it up, it’s one of my most vivid school memories!
All in all it was a great event and I wouldn’t be “Jen” if I didn’t mention the wonderful catering, the food was delicious. And I also wouldn’t be “Jen” if I hadn’t formulated a neat excel spreadsheet from the feedback I received about the decks. See below for details of the feedback summary.
1) More information and ideas about how to use the cards, there were some great suggestions made in the feedback too, and I do hope to hear more from everyone once they’ve had a chance to use the decks at their service.
2) A box for the cards, this is more on the practical side of things, and I do agree a box/stand for the cards would be wonderful, I am looking into this!
3) Further decks and expansions into primary and high school, as well as other settings. I definitely would be interested in expanding this project and continuing it as far as it will go. It is important to keep the dreams of children alive and this is also another ‘passion’ of mine.
4) Translated decks. I think this would be great, even better would be work done with dreams in the culture/language itself. I believe there are great opportunities out there to have people express their dreams in their own language… this would be something I would love to look into in the future.
Thank you and I will post updates as I am inspired to do so and as they arise!
