It’s been a while since I last posted. We’ve been planning the Launch of the Deck of Dreams at The Wayside Chapel. I would like to invite you all to come along and join in on this celebration. Also, in other news Deck of Dreams has been chosen as a finalist for the TheMHS Achievement Awards. We don’t know what colour Deck of Dreams will be receiving, I am just pleased it’s a finalist. Thank you everyone for your support!
Last week I attended a four day training to facilitate PeerZone workshops. PeerZone is a series of three hour peer led workshops in mental health and addiction where people explore recovery and whole of life wellbeing. For a visual sense of PeerZone, check out the amazing video – http://www.peerzone.info/peerzone-video. It was a small group, myself and four others plus Sara our lovely facilitator, whose colourful clothes are something will always bring a smile to my face. The workshops were full of interaction and opportunities for discussion. One of the foundation workshops was titled: Leading our Recovery. Recovery is a word […]
Day to Day Living, otherwise affectionately known as D2DL, had a National Forum last week on 13th and 14th March, 2013. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to speak about the Deck of Dreams. Thankfully, I’ve heard good things about my speech and left the podium feeling good. The whole thing was recorded so I will be able to publish it here once I get my hands on a copy. Mind you, I haven’t always been a fan of public speaking. I remember one of my early school reports stated I was a “reluctant speaker”. I didn’t know […]
The day has arrived, the cards were delivered yesterday in 9 boxes. The expression on my face while opening the cards pretty much said it all, as I didn’t take a photo, just imagine a grinning giggling Jen. I am very pleased with how the cards turned out, they look and feel great. Next week the Day to Day Living (D2DL) team are off to the National D2DL Forum. We will: Share successes and showcase resources Start conversations about topics you are struggling with Gain new and exciting ideas Hear from inspiring speakers Exchange info with Department of Health and […]
The Deck of Dreams is a source of inspiration and a conversation about who you are, not your labels. Since it’s creation in late 2010 I’ve been dreaming of this moment, the time that I could write and let you all know that dreams do come true. Always remember that anything is possible. Dreams are vital to life. With the Deck of Dreams you will share in 52 people’s dreams and learn about their experiences. The more people start share their experiences around their mental health experience, the more lives could be saved. Your chance to be one of the […]
The Deck of Dreams could be ready just before my birthday. In which case it will be one of the most memorable presents I could receive. It’s been nearly 2 years in the journey, since I climbed Adams Peak and created the concept of having a portable gallery of dreams. I hope that having a visual representation of so many people’s dreams will help make it more real for so many more. A question we ask when we sign up people to our Day to Day Living program where I work is about their hopes and dreams. I believe the deck […]
